Alfonso Cuarón Praises Child Rapist

The video I Am Autism—created by Alfonso Cuarón and Billy Mann for Autism Speaks—first describes autistic children as embarrassing, family-destroying burdens who don't belong in public places and then proclaims itself to be an expression of "love for our children."

As if that weren't sick and twisted enough, Cuarón made it clear how little interest he really has in the welfare of children by signing a petition in support of Roman Polanski, the infamous child molester who fled from justice in 1978 after admitting that he had drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl. Polanski was arrested last weekend while traveling from France to Switzerland. The text of the petition trivializes the crime as "a case of morals," praises Polanski's achievements as a film director, offers him "support and friendship," and ends by declaring that the petition's signatories "demand the immediate release of Roman Polanski."

That's so disgusting, it just boggles the mind. Cuarón seems to believe that autistic people should be kept locked away forever, as indicated by the statement in the video that it is "virtually impossible" for autistics to go out in public, but at the same time Cuarón evidently thinks it would be just fine to turn a confessed child rapist loose to prey on other vulnerable little girls.

The despicable attitudes toward children shown by Alfonso Cuarón and Autism Speaks have no place in our community.

  • this just goes to show you what kind of "morals" that people like mr. cuaron have. the people that run and/or support autism speaks, many hollywood actors and directors among others believe in the religion of elitism, in which themselves and their little circles of fellow elites are deemed "perfect" and everyone else is lower class inferiors that need to be eliminated for the sake of the elites. autistics are considered to be part of the "inferior" class, and thus must be demonized and looked down on. autism speaks has proven that they only speak for their little elitist circle in the past couple of weeks, and that they only care for themselves, and do not care how many people's lives they destroy in order to achieve their elitist goal of "a perfect world with perfect people".

  • Thanks for posting this ABFH. This is positively disgusting.

  • ABFH and everyone else - I think this should be brought to the attention of Autism Speaks immediately. Anyone who supports Polanski does not support the rights of the child (any child - Spectrum or NT), and this should be pointed out to Autism Speaks. Add that this person may be exploiting Autistic children - and that just might get the video taken down.

  • Oh my goodness. All the indecency that Alfonso Cuaron has shown in the past fortnight makes me sick. There are hardly any words to describe this.

  • Alfonso Cuaron is a sick fuck for supporting another sick fuck. It's not fucking art. It's perversion. This makes me even more angrier than I already am.

  • Didn't you know? Celebrities don't have to follow the same rules as the little people. Just cuz they're--you know--SPECIAL!

  • @Attila The Mom: In my opinion, celebrities are special enough to marry as many times as they want, but rape, especially that of a minor, is inexcusable for anyone. It's criminal activity. Period.

Word verification: mickey, which reminds me, I've got a new post up!

  • This is appalling!

  • I'm glad to know we (husband and I) are in good company in our dismay and disgust that Roman Polanski has supporters who argue that he should be let off the hook, and that he has been allowed to evade accountability for so long. Sometimes I wonder if half the world has gone mad.

  • Tying Autism Speaks to Roman Polanski is disgusting. Isn't there enough controversy in autism related discussions without trying to smear Autism Speaks and parents concerned about their children's autism disorder with this stuff?

    Shame on you.

  • Harold: "Tying Autism Speaks to Roman Polanski is disgusting."

Yeah, it's a major insult to Polanski...

  • "Tying Autism Speaks to Roman Polanski is disgusting."

The post appeared to be about one individual involved with Autism Speaks, not about the whole organization. To assume otherwise indicates you did not read the post in its entirety and jumped to conclusions.

  • In terms of support, Autism Speaks is tied with Roman Polanski and is only two degrees away from him. Autism Speaks supports Alfonso Cuaron, who supports Roman Polanski. Since they have not shown any sign of denouncing Alfonso Cuaron's support of that rapist, they're indirectly supporting him.

  • Excellent points. I'm no fan of Autism Speaks, I think they do far more harm than good. But I'm leery of laying accusations at their doorstep based on the opinions of one individual (no matter how repulsive those opinions are) at least for the moment. The longer they stay silent, though, the worse it looks.

  • Tying Autism Speaks to Roman Polanski is disgusting. [snip] Shame on you.

Shame on you, Doherty! SBWG hit the nail on the head and I agree with her. Get into the real world if you can take it.

  • @Xiannah: I'm not saying that Autism Speaks is giving Roman Polanski full-blown support and having the organization getting involved with this "Free Roman Polanski" bullshit. I'm saying that Autism Speaks is indirectly supporting Roman Polanski. They are supporting Alfonso Cuaron, who is in turn supporting Roman Polanski. Autism Speaks' support is removed only by two degrees. The fact that, as of yet, they have not denounced Alfonso Cuaron's support of Roman Polanski only strengthens that link. Did that do anything to clarify my point?
@Timelord: Thanks for realizing my point. Anyone who knows about the degrees of separation should know just how bad this relationship will make Autism Speaks look.

  • Everyone

Let me say this. I knew someone who was a bully to me in elementary school. Guess what he became a pedophile. This monster sodomized two 6 year old boys.

No, anyone who directly or indirectly supports pedophila is an enemy in my book. Autism speaks is going down.

  • Autism speaks is made up of a bunch of narcisstic, harpies who only give a rat's ass about themselves. They almost resemble the CADDS at ASpartners.

They disrupt their kids routines and enjoyment and they nag their kids to death to go into directions they can't go. These harpies hurt their kids by triggering their sensory issues. Fucking shit! Can't they give their kids a freaking break? These people get me so riled up and angry.
